Shaker: still the default, done right

Two-thirds of the Prescott kitchens we build ship with Shaker doors. The move in 2026 is toward slightly wider stiles (2.5–3 inches) and a softer inside profile — cleaner than traditional Shaker without going full flat panel.

Slab (flat panel): quietly winning

Especially popular in the newer builds around Prescott Valley and StoneRidge. Rift-cut white oak slab uppers over painted slab lowers is a look we're building constantly this year. Reads modern without leaning cold.

Inset: the premium tier

The doors sit flush inside the frame instead of overlaying it. Adds 15–25% to cabinet cost and adds time to install because tolerances are unforgiving. Worth it in a historic downtown Prescott home or a custom high-end build.

• Deep blues (naval, hale navy) — steady on islands and lowers

Finishes that hold up in Arizona

Prescott's UV and dry air are hard on cheap paint finishes. We spec conversion varnish or catalyzed polyurethane on painted cabinets — not water-based lacquer. The finish difference shows up at year 5, not year 1.
